Recapitulation

Image
Recapitulation is something I learned from Rhonda McCrimmon at the Centre For Shamanism. It is a way of forgiving yourself for things that you may regret or make you feel guilty - a way to let go of the past and move on with your life. As don Juan would say "You have to erase your personal history to become a warrior". A warrior must be totally aware and we can only be totally aware when we live completely in the present moment. A shaman is a spiritual warrior - he is not "fighting" with anybody or anything, he is in a battle with ignorance and indulgence and habits. The warrior seeks only Truth. I will let Rhonda tell you about Recapitulation in her own words - you can download a pdf from the Resources section of her website. www.centreforshamanism.com   "One of the things I recommend for my clients and one of my own weekly practises is Recapitulation.  The purpose of recapitulation is to take back your personal power that was lost during unpleasant or traumat...

The Three Worlds of the Shamanic Journey

The Shamanic Scientist

I haven't been posting much lately because I have been learning a new (to me) form of meditation. It is called The Warriors Meditation which is part of a spiritual system developed by Martial Arts expert and healer Richard L Haight and known as Total Embodiment Meditation. This is a way of developing the Total Awareness of an ancient warrior or hunter gatherer and it is pretty amazing. I have also just finished reading a very interesting book called "The Shaman Within" - A Physicist's Guide to the Deeper Dimensions of Your Life, the Universe, and Everything by Claude Poncelet, PhD who is a Belgian physicist living and working in the USA. He is also a shamanic practitioner and teacher who appears to have an amazing talent for "shape shifting". I would say that this is not a book for the absolute novice. It is based around Core Shamanism and he does quote a few famous teachers of Core Shamanism but he has also done some ground work with indigenous peoples. Th...

The Medicine Bag

Image
The Medicine Bag is a small bag that a Shaman would traditionally wear around his or her neck. It is traditionally made from deer skin (though nowadays people use cotton or felt instead if they have strong views about using animal skin). The Shaman keeps small "sacred" objects in the Medicine Bag for many different reasons - ritual, ceremony and omen walking to name a few. The Medicine Bag is also a new book by don Jose Ruiz. Don Jose is the second son of don Miguel Ruiz' (The Four Agreements) three sons, he was raised to be a Shaman in the Toltec tradition and has remarkable wisdom for such a young man. Don Jose is a very flamboyant character (you can find him talking on YouTube) with his long hair and his love of art and music. I feel that he is a very loving person and he has a kind of feline femininity about him. The book is an easy read and a veritable treasure trove of information for the novice shamanic person or the more experienced practitioner who wants to learn...
