Working With Dragons Part Two
Here is part two of my little Dragon trilogy. If you missed part one, the Fire Dragon, you can read it here.
My second encounter with a Dragon, like the first one, took me by complete surprise. I have had an interest in Daoism for many years and have studied Daoist meditation, Qigong and Tai Chi - so when I heard Nicola say recently that she was into Daoism before she set out on her Shamanic path with Jason at The Way of The Buzzard it sparked an interest and I found the journey she had referred to way back in 2019 (in the Mystery School library).
The Journey topic was The Empty Bowl - so, nothing whatsoever to do with Dragons. Or so I thought.
It turned out that the Journey title was a little misleading because the intention for the Journey was to enter and experience The Void. This is something I have some knowledge of as an experienced meditator who has experimented with many techniques over the past 50 years or so. But the experience I got was not like anything I had experienced before! And the reason for this was, yes, you guessed it - I encountered my second Dragon - The Air Dragon.
As usual, I set off (in spirit) to my Nemeton, an ancient Yew Tree that has been living in the village where I spent my first seven years for more than 1600 years. This tree is very special to me and I spend many hours just sitting beneath her canopy in silence or sometimes drumming for a while to entertain the birds and squirrels (it is only a few miles from where I live now). When I arrived I could tell there was something different about this Journey - my trusty companion, Wolf, was nowhere to be seen and all around the Yew a flock of Jackdaws were kicking up one hell of a fuss. They were very agitated indeed! And with good reason as it turned out...
Suddenly I was aware of a dark shadow above me in the tree. I looked up and saw a huge grey Dragon with massive wings perched precariously on top of the Yew. Again, weirdly, I felt no fear. The Dragon indicated that I should climb onto its back - which I did.
We took off at speed, straight up through the clouds and pierced the "membrane" to the Upper World. I assumed (never assume) that this was our destination - but no, we continued to soar upwards, beyond the Upper World and out into a star filled sky. The Dragon seemed to have a definite destination in mind so I just hung on and waited to see what would happen. We left the Solar system far behind and appeared to be heading towards the centre of the galaxy at great speed. Up ahead I could see a pitch black circle which seemed to be attracting and then swallowing entire star systems. I realised that this was the Black Hole or Singularity that some astronomers believe exists in the centre of our "Milky Way" galaxy - and probably the same situation exists within all galaxies. But why had the Dragon brought me here? The Dragon hung silently in space and then turned its head towards me. It began to communicate, mind to mind. "This is the nature of your physical realm. There is constant change. Constant birth and death. Constant polarity, light and dark. Your world is a tiny orb on the outer edge of this galaxy and everything in your physical world obeys these natural laws. (The picture above is the Air Dragon from The Druid Animal Oracle by Will Worthington with Philip and Stephanie Carr - Gomm.)
Humans have become extremely ignorant and arrogant over the years - for some reason they seem to believe that they are special, even immortal! This is not the truth. All things and all beings in the physical universe are being constantly recycled. It will be millions of your years before your Sun and your home planet are sucked into that black hole but it will happen. This galaxy will cease to exist - it will die. But, as some of your scientists know, physical matter cannot actually be totally destroyed, it can only be changed into something else - the energy that created it will in turn create something new. This is the nature of the physical universes. There are infinite universes and infinite dimensions of space and time. Each black hole in each galaxy represents both death and rebirth. As the present galaxy is sucked into apparent oblivion, another galaxy is being born from the cosmic energy that was held within it. The black holes are like birth canals for the new life to emerge and begin all over again. This process is infinite and eternal, there is no beginning and no ending. There was no "Big Bang" nor was your world created by some "god". These are just stories that humans use to try and explain that which they cannot comprehend. I have granted you knowledge but will you use it to find wisdom? I will return you to the world that you perceive as "reality" - you would do well to remember that it is not at all as you perceive it. All things will pass."
